A requirement of the Mine Training plan is that every MSHA trained Operating Engineer who has taken the 24-hour classand is deemed an experienced miner must attend an annual 8-hour refresher class.
The work of an Operating Engineer is divided into two general classifications: Operating Equipment, and Repairing Equipment.
The Equipment Operator Apprenticeship focuses on building the skills necessary to be productive and efficient heavy equipment operators, with heavy emphasis on SAFETY. We want our members to be able to go to work, be safe, and be able to return home to their families at the end of their day.
The Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program launched the Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program in 2019. The program is a stand alone program, designed to train interested candidates for service, maintenace and repair for heavy equipment used in construction.
