The Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship and Training Program Now Accepts Online Applications!.

We will contact our applicants by email and or telephone to inform them of scheduled testing, which will take place at one of our training facilities.  Please make sure to follow all directions on the application and please verify that your email, telephone number, and mailing address are correct before submitting.  We cannot be responsible for incorrect information entered into the application.

Filling out the application on a computer or large tablet is highly recommended.  Small tablets and phones can limit the space available to see and read all information. Once successfully submitted, you will receive a confirmation email from “centraloffice@local18training.com”.  Make sure to watch your spam/ junk email folder, as these sometimes get filtered there.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time of acceptance into the program.

  • Have a valid driver’s license.

  • Have dependable transportation.

  • Pass a Department of Transportation physical exam.

  • All applicants will receive a background check.  The background check needs to be “Clear” of a felony conviction and/ or community control for a minimum of 7 years prior to your application.
  • Pass a drug test – Drug use is not tolerated in the construction industry where safety is a life and death issue.

The Entrance Exam Study Guide is NOW AVAILABLE!  Every year, we are asked by our interested applicants if there is anything they can do to help them to prepare for our entrance exam.  There are four sections that our applicants are tested on.  Math, Reading, Mechanical Comprehension, and Spatial Relations.  This year, we are offering sample questions and guidance for two of the sections that are included in the exam.   Math and Mechanical Comprehension.  These are not the exact questions that will be seen on the test, but they are SIMILAR.  If you can become familiar with the questions asked here, then it will assist you with attaining a higher passing score!
